Immigration Law, Reversed
Camille Cazedessus | 5/24/11
The Colorado House Education Committee rejected a Democratic proposal in the Colorado state legislature 7-6 along party-lines. Senate Bill 126 would have allowed illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates to attend state universities and colleges.

Opponents of the bill argue that it would encourage more illegal immigrants to move to the state. Interestingly enough, the decisive vote striking down SB126 was cast by Republican Representative Robert Ramirez, the only Hispanic GOP member of the House whose father, a Mexican immigrant, struggled to gain legal residency. Ramirez believed that approving the bill would send a message to “a new generation that it’s OK not to follow the laws of our country.”

...still, all the Democrat representatives apparently think it should be the law.
