San Juan Historical Society Pioneer Museum
The Pioneer Museum is located at the corner of First and Pagosa Streets, on the east side of Pagosa Springs near the San Juan River bridge. The museum displays depict life in the area from the 1890s to the early 1900s. Step back in time and visit a dentist's office, a barber shop, a general store and a country schoolroom.

Other museum displays include a blacksmith shop, a typical early 1900 kitchen and logging and ranching equipment. Visit us at our web site and enjoy the slide show that provides a look at those "Pioneer" days.

"Remembrances,", a series of books on the history of the area and its' people, has been compiled and published by the Historical Society. Volume 1, "Founding Families", Volume 2, "The Silver San Juan", Volume 3, "School Days, School Days", and Volume 4, "Making a Living" make up the present series. Funds raised from the sale of the books are used for the operation of the museum.
