'Bucks for Bikes' Donation Deadline Approaches |

All of us can probably remember our first bike... what color it was, the brand, when and where we got it... and taking those first wobbly rides.
For some children in Archuleta County, having a new bike is a distant dream.
Please consider making their dreams come true! The donation deadline — Friday, November 21 — is fast approaching. Continued...
Each year the Pagosa Springs Area Association of REALTORS teams up with Operation Helping Hand to sponsor the BUCKS FOR BIKES program. This program solicits donations to buy new bicycles for children and youth in our community who are less fortunate, and then distributes them in coordination with Operation Helping Hand. Last year the community contributed enough money to purchase 35 new bikes for children between the ages of five and 16.
 Fulfilling children’s dreams takes a high degree of strong volunteer work from numerous directions. Once money is raised, a list of the children in need is supplied by Archuleta County Social Services, bikes are purchased locally and assembled, and then delivered to the Operation Helping Hand site for distribution. This year local cycling and snowboarding shop Pedal and Powder has graciously offered to supply the bikes at a discount.
First and foremost, BUCKS FOR BIKES needs donations to help these dreams come true in Archuleta County. The goal this year is to raise at least $3,000. If each person gives a minimum donation of $10.00, this goal could easily be reached. Then BUCKS FOR BIKES can provide the bikes to those eager-eyed kids who would not be able to afford them otherwise.
Business and individuals alike are invited to contribute. Donations can be mailed to or dropped off at the Pagosa Springs Area Association of REALTORS, 190 Talisman Drive #D-5, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147.
Checks should be made payable to BUCKS FOR BIKES and please remember that you entire donation is tax deductible. The donation deadline is Friday, November 21, 2008.
