The Town of Pagosa Springs recreation office is now accepting registrations for this year's "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" program, which will be held Mondays from 10am-4pm from June 29 through July 26 (location to be determined).
With the assistance of the Promoting Prevention Coalition, Pagosa Springs Parks and Recreation Departments and Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association, up to 25 children ages 8-13 can participate in this educational outdoor experience.
Registration cost is $25 and includes usage of fishing poles, bait and flies for those in need, plus drinks and snacks.
Participants are welcome to bring their own fishing gear, as well. Insect repellent and sunscreen will also be made available.
The program is again being conducted with donations and on-site assistance from John and Lori Unger of BossTin (suppliers of lead-free weights and shots), 4-H leaders Ken and Charlotte Jones, and Promoting Prevention Coalition members Sue Iverson and Joanne Irons. Parent volunteers are welcome to assist, as well.
Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall, and can also be downloaded through the recreation department link at the Town website. Registrations should be submitted to the recreation office; checks and money orders should be made payable to the Town of Pagosa Springs.
For more information, call the recreation office at 264-4151 Ext. 232. |
