The Town of Pagosa Springs recreation office is pleased to be helping with this year's "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" program, which will be held Mondays from 10am-4pm from June 29 through July 26.
With the assistance of the Promoting Prevention Coalition, Pagosa Springs Parks and Recreation Departments and Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association, up to 25 children ages 8-13 can participate in this educational outdoor experience.
Registration cost is $25 and includes usage of fishing poles, bait and flies for those in need, plus drinks and snacks.
All participants who have registered for this year's "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" program should report to the boat ramp at Lake Forest at 10am Monday; the ramp is located at the northwest end of the lake and can be accessed from Lake Forest Circle.
Parents who are not participating as program volunteers should make arrangements to have children picked up at the boat ramp no later than 4pm.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, as well as a sack lunch and water. However, fishing poles, bait and flies will be available for those in need, and drinks and snack items will be provided. Insect repellent and sunscreen will also be available.
Weather permitting, fishing sessions will be held each Monday at Lake Forest from 10am- 4pm through July 27. |
