Yesterday, June 29, Congressman John Salazar announced that $176,307 in federal funding has been allocated to support the rehabilitation of Runway 1/19 at the Archuleta County Airport/Stevens Field, Pagosa Springs. The rehabilitation of Runway 1/19 (phase II) will include the application of a surface treatment to extend the useful life of the existing pavement.

On the grant funding Congressman Salazar offered the following comment:

“I am certain this grant funding will enable the Archuleta County Airport to prepare for the future and enhance its ability to provide safe and efficient air service for pilots and residents in and around Pagosa Springs,” said Congressman Salazar. “I am proud to have supported these efforts and I will continue to work to provide necessary funding for projects that will improve our infrastructure and strengthen our economy.”

Bill McKown, Archuleta County Airport/Stevens Field Manager offered the following statement on the funding:

“Archuleta County and Stevens Field has been upgraded and well maintained throughout the past few years.  The County has a long standing and professional partnership with the federal government. Receiving federal grants is sincerely appreciated. These projects contribute to the successful growth of not only the airport facilities, but the local area of Pagosa Springs as well as the entire County.”
