Ha, ha, ha. Ha, ha, HA! I sure enjoy laughing and smiling a LOT ... see my photo? My name is Montana, like the state, and I am looking for a great family to come over here and take me home. Is that you do you think? Oh, right, first let me tell you my story and a little about me. Continued...
First off, you need to know that I am young in dog years, still under a year. I came here with all my little puppy brothers and sisters. The nice shelter people kept us together for a while, then one by one my siblings got adopted, which just leaves me, right? And isn’t the last one always the BEST one?
That is my philosophy, anyway.
I’m a BOY dog and am about 8-months-old. My parents were a great mix of talent. Firstly, there’s the beagle side of the family. Those genes keep me interested in smells. Then there’s the boxer, possible lab side of my gene pool. That keeps me pretty calm and trusting. Finally there’s the Staffordshire Pit side, which hasn’t affected my gentle nature, but sure has given my coat some interesting patterns, don’t you agree? My back side is nearly black, my face is brindle, and I have white on my toes and underneath my chin. A really interesting look compared to many of my ‘normal’ canine friends. My ears droop like a beagle, but my character is anything but droopy!
I love giving affection to humans and getting love from them too. For a young dog, Maria at the shelter tells me that I’m really calm and generally well behaved. I pay attention to humans, even strangers, as I find them fascinating. Don’t you? I mean they sure have long legs, but they only use two of them to walk on. The other two legs for humans seem to do all kinds of interesting things, and I’m sure they are useful to them, but maybe they would be a little faster if they used all fours like us dogs. Finally, I’m not a big dog. At eight months or so I probably weigh about 35 – 40 pounds. I guess I will grow a bit bigger but not much. So, now you know me and you know my story. I’ve never been traumatized like some of my friends here, and I’m very trusting at heart. Can I trust YOU to come and take me for a walk?
If you say “yes”, then here I am, over at the shelter on Cloman Blvd., just off Piedra Road. Give them a call, 970-731-4771 and tell them “I would like to visit Montana from the Pagosa Daily Post article”. I’ll be looking for you with my happy smile and wagging tail. Just ‘cause I’m an orphan doesn’t mean I’ve let life get me down! |
