art exhibit entries wanted
Artisans of the Southwest has just completed its expansion (twice the original size) and gallery renovation, allowing the opportunity for larger artworks!  This year, CAS is hosting the two shows:  Juried CAS (for professional artists) and Non-Juried CAS (for amateur artists).  Artists may enter up to 4 works of art.   For professional artists in the area, whether or not they are currently represented in a gallery of not, Artisans is a grand opportunity to show, promote, and sell their work. The show also provides a unique presence in a gallery setting for amateur artists desiring to show and sell their work.

“The quality of art available varies from amateur to fine art — and a great place to start collecting”, states gallery director Wen Saunders.

Works should be no larger than 16x20.  Larger entries will be accepted, space permitting, with an additional entry fee.  Artists may enter up to four entries.  Artwork should have been completed in the last two years.  Each artwork must be ready for hanging (with appropriate wire), unless is work is specifically intended to be unframed.

Artists should bring their art to the gallery on Saturday, February 13 or Monday, February 15, 2-5pm, or ship to arrive by February 15.  Art mailed by U.S. Postal Service should be mailed to P.O. Box 4486, Pagosa Springs, CO 81157.  Items shipped by UPS or Federal Express should be shipped to 175 Pagosa Street, Pagosa Springs, Colorado 81147.  Opening and Artists Reception is Saturday, February 20, 3-6pm.

Artists may drop off their art on Saturday, February 13 or Monday, February 15 at Artisans of the Southwest Gallery, located at 175 Pagosa Street in Aspen Grove Plaza (in the Farrago’s Building).  Entry forms may be picked-up prior to entry at the gallery daily, 1-6pm (closed Sunday & Wednesday) or online at the gallery website.
Awards

Artists Artisans of the Southwest Gallery will award three prizes for the Community Art Show.  Peoples Choice ($100 award), is selected by patrons during the show opening night and visiting the gallery through March 1 (and announced March 2).  Best of Show Professional Artist and Best Newby (amateur artist) will be selected and judged by Artisans of the Southwest Gallery artisans. The Best Newby award is presented to a non-professional artist.  The Best of Show Professional Artist and Best Newby award will give each artist the opportunity to have a show representing their work in the gallery and artist reception during May.  In addition, the artist will be featured on the gallery website, with a web gallery of their work.  Both professional and amateur artists may enter the show. The professional CAS is a juried entry show; the amateur CAS is a non-juried entry show.

An Interactive Gallery Setting
Fine artists of all levels treasure a special opportunity to sell and show their fine artwork in a professional gallery setting.  Artisans of the Southwest boasts a Wine Tasting Room and gallery providing an “interactive” setting for both the artisan and patrons.  Meet an artist everyday in the gallery.  Every month the wine room features a variety of domestic wines (including Colorado daily) and national wines from other countries (this month Spain).  A light bistro menu accompanies the Wine Tasting Room.  Individual Wine Tastings will occur daily.

ART & WINERS Happy Hour is daily from 4:30-5:30pm.  Gallery hours are 1-6pm daily (closed Sunday and Wednesdays during winter). For the person or group looking for a place to frequent lunch or in between dinner, Artisans provides an ultimate artistic experience- ART-WINE-FOOD!  For further information, please contact Wen Saunders, gallery director, at 970-264-9969.
