The free Tuesday, February 2 community conversation and brown bag lunch with banjoist Béla Fleck at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College has been rescheduled for 12:30-1:30 p.m. The casual, drop-in event (originally scheduled for 1:30-2:30 p.m.) is in advance of Fleck’s 7 p.m. show at the Concert Hall that evening.
“We’re sorry for the time change,” said Charles Leslie, Concert Hall director. “Things are often fluid in the entertainment business. We still hope Mr. Fleck’s fans will be able to bring their lunches and come on over to the Community Concert Hall to meet with him and hear about his current projects.”
Arguably the world’s premiere banjo player, Fleck is currently touring showcasing “The Africa Project,” an outgrowth of his exploration of the origins of the banjo, the prototype of which was brought to America by African slaves. In on-location collaborations with musicians in Uganda, Tanzania, Senegal, Mali, South Africa and Madagascar, Fleck found common ground with artists ranging from local villagers to international stars. “The Africa Project” also spawned Fleck’s 2010 Grammy-nominated “Throw Down Your Heart” music release, as well as the feature documentary of the same name.
No tickets or reservations are required for the Béla Fleck community conversation/brown bag lunch. Tickets for the Feb. 2 show - $40 for Balcony, $44 for Orchestra and $50 for Plaza – are available on line at the Durango Concerts website or by calling 970.247.7657 or toll free 877.282.9992. Or visit the Ticketing Services Office in Downtown Durango at 7th and Main Ave.
The Community Concert Hall is located in the growing arts complex of Fort Lewis College. It operates through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, as well as the city of Durango, and with financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community. |
