A free bilingual story time for pre-kindergarten children and families takes place on the second Tuesday of every month at 10am in the children’s room at the Sission Library.
To give you an idea of the fun and learning opportunities awaiting you and your youngsters, consider the program for this coming Tuesday, February 9:
The bilingual story will be "Goodnight Everyone" or "Buenos Noches Todos." It is a story of a little girl going to bed and taking all her stuffed animals with her. Participants will learn the names of some animals, and enjoy a craft that is animal-oriented. After that, everyone gets an animal-shaped snack.
At all the bilingual story times, the kids sing a song in Spanish, and learn a few words in Spanish. Craft activities and a snack also are always available at each of these events.
Rosalind Marshall, the ESL teacher from the Archuleta County Education Center, is the leader. She hopes you’ll bring your children to have fun at the same time they are improving their bilingual skills.
Library newsletter To keep you even more up to date on library happenings, the staff has launched a quarterly newsletter called The Sisson Seasonal. Pick up a print version of the inaugural issue at the library or go to our website to get it as a PDF file.
For future issues, we hope that we’ll have the technological ability to also offer e-delivery of the newsletter so it can come to you as an email attachment. |
