Town Police Schedule 'Impaired Driving' Campaign This Week
Special to the Post | 3/15/10
The Pagosa Springs Police Department is participating in the 2010 St. Patrick’s Day "High Visibility Impaired Driving Enforcement (HVIDE) campaign. Officers will increase patrols for the enforcement period starting March 17.

Deputies and police officers throughout the state will be participating  in the campaign, during Colorado Department of Transportation’s (CDOT) St. Patrick’s Day ‘impaired driving enforcement’ period. During this seven day period, Colorado law enforcement personnel will be increasing their on-duty patrol numbers with designated officers on DUI patrols only.

Officers can earn overtime — and volunteer — for this saturation period, paid through the 2010 High Visibility Enforcement fund from CDOT.

National traffic studies confirm that increased patrols provide a “risk of apprehension” thereby reducing the number of impaired driving traffic crashes.

The Pagosa Springs Police department wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday.
