March Madness at Pagosa Brewing
Indiana Reed | 3/17/10
In the throes of the NCAA basketball tournament, Thursday, March 25, 5-7pm, Pagosa Brewing Company will be the site for the second annual “March Madness” fundraiser, organized by La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) to benefit United Way of Southwest Colorado in Archuleta County.

“United Way is excited to partner with La Plata Electric Association on this second annual March Madness fundraiser in Archuleta County,” said Tim Wadsworth, United Way CEO. “We really want to thank LPEA’s Jeannie Bennett for all her help in garnering community support for United Way.”

An optional donation to United Way will be accepted at the door, and complimentary appetizers, courtesy of the Farrago’s Market Café, will be offered until 6pm. Additionally, all proceeds from a select Pagosa Brewing Company brew will be donated to the United Way.

Those attending will not miss the “real” March Madness as the Sweet 16 games will be broadcast at the pub. The “best” seats in the house are available for $50 per table. The donation also includes complimentary appetizers for the entire two-hour event.

To reserve a table, contact Teddy Adler Finney, United Way Archuleta County community relations coordinator, 731-0484.

Additional fun-filled activities are promised during the evening including a bracket challenge, nerf hoops contest, fanatic fan contest (best basketball fan outfit) and a basketball coloring contest for the kids. Prizes will be awarded.

March Madness is being organized as part of LPEA’s commitment to United Way of Southwest Colorado. Proceeds from the event will benefit United Way partner agencies in Archuleta County, including Seeds of Learning, Archuleta County Education Center, Colorado Housing and more.

In 2009, LPEA – a United Way Pacesetter – raised more than $30,000 for United Way through direct employee contributions and creative fundraisers such as the “March Madness.” The 2009 contribution was approximately 4.3 percent of United Way’s overall total campaign.

Pagosa Brewing Company is located at 118 N. Pagosa Blvd., Pagosa Springs. For additional event information, contact Jeannie Bennett, 970-382-3505 or jbennett@lpea.coop.
