"Be it resolved that the Green Party of Colorado endorse Rep. Alan Grayson’s 'Medicare for All' bill, HR 4789, originally proposed By Poudre Valley Green Party."
A mere four pages long, the bill would allow any American, regardless of age or income, to buy into the existing Medicare program at cost. Thus, it would not cost the federal government or taxpayers one dime, but would offer a true public health insurance option to all Americans. By providing real competition with private, for-profit health insurance corporations, HR 4789 would lower rates for everyone.
 Unlike the weak, compromised so-called health insurance reform recently passed by Congress that would leave in place the primacy of the 'for-profit model', HR 4789 would be a significant change that moves America towards a universal, public insurance system.
The Poudre Valley Green Party asked the Green Party of Colorado to endorse HR 4789, to contact Colorado’s elected Senators and Congressional representatives to support this bill, to make our position known through newspapers, blogs and other media, and to raise the issue at candidate forums.
