Free LEGO Contest Planned
Carole Howard & Library Staff | 9/2/10
Here’s good news for the many Lego fans among the kids in our community -- on Saturday, September 18 your library is hosting a free Lego contest to give you a chance to display your creativity and building skills.

Your completed structure must be set up between 9 and 10:30am on Saturday.  Judging will take place at 11am.

Everyone is welcome to view the entries between 10:30am and 2pm, after which time you need to take your structure home.

This contest is limited to 18 participants and you must pre-register by Wednesday, September 15.  Your entry must be built ahead of time – the library does not provide blocks.

Your entry must be your own creation – not a Lego kit or a project found on line or in a magazine.  You must be able to carry your design in to and out of the library building without the assistance of the library staff.  Your creation cannot be bigger than 18”x18”x18”.

Prizes will be awarded for each of three age categories: age 7 and under, ages 8-11, and ages 12-17.  There will also be a Judges’ Choice prize.  Entries will be judged on general appearance and design, use of color, neatness and care of construction, and degree of difficulty.

For more information, more details on the rules or to register, contact Kristine MacNeill, youth services librarian, at the library or at 264-2209.
