Senator Al White, Director of the Colorado Tourism Office, will be the keynote speaker at the 1st annual Pagosa Springs Area Tourism Conference and Expo on Tuesday, February 22 at the Ross Aragon Community Center in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Businesses are encouraged to attend the 2011 Tourism Conference and Business Expo to learn more about tourism in Pagosa Springs and Southwest Colorado, explore advertising opportunities and forge new partnerships with other area businesses.
This educational event will feature speakers on a variety of tourism and marketing related topics. In addition, a business expo will be featured to introduce you to local business resources and area advertising vendors. This event is free of charge and open to the public. We invite you to come learn more about tourism in the Pagosa Springs area, explore advertising opportunities and forge new partnerships with other area businesses.

11:00 am – 11:45 am Being in Business in a Tourism‐based Economy Most businesses in Pagosa are not entirely dependent on just locals or just tourists – in fact, they need both in order to succeed. This panel discussion will provide insight from Region 9 and Fort Lewis College Small Business Development Center on ways to maximize success in a tourism‐based economy. This session will provide an overview of the various organizations involved in reaching tourists – and will look at the best ways to maximize your involvement with each. 3:00 pm – 3:45pm Reach Tourists through Trip Advisor A webinar session conducted by Trip Advisor with an overview of how Pagosa Springs and its businesses fare on the extremely popular travel planning website. Presented by Trip Advisor
4:00 pm – 4:45 pm Organizing and Promoting Events in Pagosa Springs As a tourism destination, Pagosa Springs benefits from having more events. Events provide something to do and can also be a reason to visit. In this panel discussion, the most successful area event organizers will provide their thoughts on creating a successful event in Pagosa – and how they’ve promoted them.
