PHOTO ESSAY: Golden Retriever RoundUp 2011
Jeff Laydon | 7/1/11
Pagosa's first annual Golden Retriever RoundUp kicked off at The Pagosa Lodge with a "meet and greet" of dogs and their owners.

A delicious BBQ was enhanced by great entertainment by local dance band Groove Kitchen — and plenty of romping around in the back yard of the Lodge.  Really a fun evening.

On Saturday morning the group assembled at The Springs EcoLuxe Hotel to enjoy a parade of retrievers and many other breeds.  Guests came from WY, NM, AZ, KS, CA, and even Canada to share their love for Retrievers.

The ribbon cutting sent the group off on a nice stroll over walk bridge and down to Town Park where 16 different vendors offered their tastes and wares.  Dogs were able to freely move around and do what they do best: entertain their masters.

Agility courses were set up, the hot dog race, look alike, and all kinds of trick dogs were competing for some great prizes all donated by local merchants and organizations.

It was warm but he river proved to be a cool spot for the dogs to show off even more.

A community effort really paid off on this one; volunteers all were happy with the attendance and glad to assist.
