'100 Years of Broadway' Seeking Local Talent

The producers of “Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway,” coming to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College on Monday, February 27, are seeking local vocalists to perform in the show alongside the Broadway stars. One winner and five runners-up will be selected.

“Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway” recreates the greatest moments from the top shows of the century as a host of Broadway veterans perform songs from popular musicals such as Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Cats, Chicago, Wicked and more. The local winner will sing a solo part in at least one song during the show, with runners-up performing an ensemble number with the cast.

Local performers will be selected by a panel of industry professionals based on video auditions. To audition, vocalists are asked to upload to YouTube, MySpace or Facebook a 90 to 120 second video clip of themselves singing a Broadway tune, as well as fill out the on-line audition form. Deadline is Friday, February 17, 5pm MST. Winners will be notified by email or phone February 21.

Anyone 12 years or older can audition, and those selected must be available three hours prior to show time on the day of the performance for sound check and rehearsal. For the application and further information, visit this website, and click on information for the Durango show.

All runners-up will receive a complimentary pair of tickets, with the winner receiving four complimentary tickets. All submitted videos will become the property of Left Field Productions and may be used in any appropriate manner to promote the “Singing with the Broadway Stars” platform. No submissions will be sold.

Showtime is 7pm, with doors to the Concert Hall and concessions, serving beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages and snacks, opening at 6pm.

The Community Concert Hall is located in the growing arts complex of Fort Lewis College.  It operates through a partnership with the college, a state-supported, independent institution of higher education, as well as the city of Durango, and with financial and in-kind contributions from generous members of the community.
