If ONLY you humans could talk, you would really enjoy my story straight from my canine lips. The next best thing is having a human translator, and today I was lucky enough to find one. So here goes, I sure hope this woman does a good job interpreting my story, don’t you just hate it when awkward translations get in the way?
My name is Brooke; I guess she can’t get that statement wrong. Anyway, not meaning to be too rude, and I AM grateful for her time, my young life has been a long series of changes. I was born like all canines to a GREAT mother, but once I left my puppy months behind me, my life took a turn for the worst. I was out on the streets, no longer a part of a larger human family. Lost and hungry, I wandered around Durango, and yes I said Durango, Colorado, for a while. One day a very nice human fed me some food and scooped me into her arms and took me to the dog prison. Well, I called it a prison at first, but really it is a very nice place where I was fed and watered and exercised, and looked after. I soon found out that instead of it being a prison, it is an adoption place for dogs like me who have been abandoned or who are down on their luck.
I sat there for many days in Durango, but no family ever took much interest in me. Why not I’ve always wondered? I’m young, about a year-and-a-half old, short-haired with a beautiful copper colored coat. I’m very athletic, not too big at around 40 pounds or so, and I get along with most other dogs. I AM an alpha though, so I do tend to tell my canine dog friends who is in charge. And most likely I’d chase a cat or two if I had the chance, what smart canine wouldn’t? So what’s not to like?? EXACTLY my point.
Anyway, after staying in Durango’s adoption place for a long time, I came here to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs, to see if maybe a Pagosan would love and adopt me. And here I am waiting for love. As I wait I sure do enjoy the shelter’s DOG PARK with my fellow canine friends! It is awesomely fun to play in the snow and rough and tumble and have some wildly good times.
Right now I’m available for adoption at the Humane Society on Cloman Blvd., just off Piedra Road. Please visit me soon, or give them a call, 970-731-4771. I’m a great family dog missing a family! Just ask for “Brooke” from the Daily Post article. I’ll be waiting to play with you and please bring some treats! |
