Please Welcome Walmart
Lyn Dryburgh | 2/2/12
All of you who are eager to have a Walmart in Pagosa should use Pam Morrow's suggestion of writing a letter to

Walmart, Inc.
Bentonville, AR 72716.

Let them know a Walmart in Pagosa would be welcome to all those people who are tired of driving to Durango or Alamosa for basic needs. Saving money on gas and keeping sales taxes at home would be a boon that Pagosa needs and Walmart would provide.  Saving money on groceries and household items is what locals need, but tourists do not.

Tourists usually buy household and hardware goods in their home town.  They would continue to shop at the many other retail stores which do not have sufficient competitive pricing to attract local spending.

Many of our small businesses will feel positive effects of Walmart.  Restaurants, gas stations and many other service type businesses will have more customers who are coming from towns around Pagosa to shop at Walmart.  Think of the other stores or businesses you frequent when you go to Durango's Walmart.

The cost of living in Pagosa Springs is very high and driving many people to move away or shop out of town.  Let's keep the costs down and people at home to spend their hard earned money.

Competition is good for the consumer and the consumer drives the economy.
