WinterFest — Pagosa's premier winter celebration — will be taking place over the President’s Day Weekend, February 16-19, 2012.  There will be festivities happening every day for children and adults.

Soup for the Soul will take place at the Ross Aragon Community Center starting at 5:30 p.m on February 16.

The Nordic Club will have activities set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 17-19.  Children and adult races will be offered as well as relay and distance races in classic and skate skiing.  There will also be a mock paint biathlon on Saturday.  Visit the Pagosa Nordic website for more information.

Snow sculpting, sled races and snowshoe races will all be held on Saturday, February 18.  Locations are still in a state of flux due to current weather conditions.  Registration forms for any of these events can be obtained at the Chamber or online at the Chamber website

A new event, the “Hot Toddy for the Body” contest will be held on Sunday, February 19 along the Riverwalk.  The contest has professional and amateur categories and there will be tastings available beginning at 11:30 a.m. at $5 for three tastings.  To enter your best hot toddy, pick up a form at the chamber or go online to print one out.  Prizes and plaques will be given to the winners.  Pagosa Coffee Roasting will be on hand selling coffee as well as providing coffee to any entries that require coffee for their drink.

The Hot Toddy contest will keep spectators entertained until the plungers take to the San Juan River in the 3rd annual Pagosa Penguin Plunge.  With water temperatures in the low 30’s, hearty souls will be plunging into these frigid waters all for the sake of raising money for their favorite non-profit agency.  Pledge forms are also available at the chamber or online.

It will be a busy President’s Day weekend and a perfect opportunity to encourage family and friends to come to Pagosa over this weekend.

For more information on any of the events, go to the Chamber website and view the Activities and Events at the Chamber website.
