The New Mexico Guitar Duo Jeremy Mayne and Mickey Jones will be appearing in Durango at Fort Lewis College, on October 12 — offering a Master Class at 2:00pm (free admission) and a Concert at 7:00pm ... $15 adults/$5 students.
Formed in 1989, by Mickey Jones and Jeremy Mayne, the New Mexico Guitar Duo has been guided by a strong friendship, artistic integrity, and a desire to perform great music with virtuosity, musicianship and refined sense of ensemble. Their programs include mainstays from the duo repertoire, from Baroque masterpieces to evocative contemporary works, as well as their own innovative transcriptions.
The New Mexico Guitar Duo has performed for the Keller Hall Faculty Series, the Grinnell College Performing Arts Series, the Luna County Arts Council, the Albuquerque Classical Guitar Society, St. John’s Summer Concert Series, and the 18th Annual Summer Guitar Workshop. Most recently, the duo has performed at the Guitars and Gateaux Series, Church of Beethoven, New Mexico Classical Guitar Festival and given a premier performance of Concertomaggio by Roland Dyens with the Albuquerque Academy Chamber Players.
The duo has been featured live on public radio programs, including Performance New Mexico and has participated in outreach seminars and performance/lectures around New Mexico. Their first CD, Villanesca, was released in 2001.
