The Pagosa Nordic Club will host a fun filled weekend with your canine companion. Activities start at 10AM on Saturday, January 5th at Yamaguchi Park with a free harness training clinic.
Bring your friendly dog, 2 short leashes, a harness, walking shoes and cross country skis or snowshoes to try harness pulling with your dog.
There will be a track set for you to try your hand with skijoring (skis) or cani-cross (snowshoes) after receiving instruction. Additionally, canine harnesses can be used for bicycling and other summer activities too.
Jennifer Martin from the Pagosa Nordic Club will be on site to conduct the clinic and to answer questions.
On Sunday, join us at Yamaguchi Park to try out your new skills at our FREE Canine fun races. There will be a 1-mile skijor race (dog pulls you on skiis), a 1- mile cani-cross race (dog pulls you on snowshoes). Registration is at 8:30am and the race will start at 9am. Just bring your friendly dog, skis or snowshoes and a sense of adventure and get ready for some excitement!
You can use this event as a warm up for the 3rd annual “Pagosa Paw” winter dog sports event on February 23 & 24, 2013, or just as a way to get out and have fun with your four legged friend.
Yamaguchi Park is located south on Hot Springs Blvd, past Town Hall. Turn right on Apache Street, go over the bridge, Turn left on South 5th street, go two blocks and park on the left.
