Shooter Jennings to Headline 2nd Annual Outlaw Snowdown
Melissa Buckley | 1/3/13

Shooter Jennings, the only son of outlaw country legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, will headline the second-annual Outlaw Snowdown music festival held in a heated tent in Town Park on February 8th and 9th, 2013.

Jennings, who will release his sixth studio album this March, is an outspoken advocate for  “real country” music.

“Shooter epitomizes the alt-country movement and we’re honored that he’ll be playing the Outlaw Snowdown in Pagosa this year,” event founder Melissa Buckley said. “Having grown up on his parents tour bus alongside Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson, it’s fair to say he’s got a pretty good idea what the “real stuff” is.”

In addition to writing and performing his own material, Shooter hosts a radio show on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio’s Outlaw Country and has produced albums for Jason Boland, Hellbound Glory (both of whom played last year’s festival) and Fifth on the Floor (who are also featured in this year’s OSD lineup).

Shooter’s significant other is Emmy-award winning actress Drea de Matteo, best known for her roles in “Desperate Housewives” and “The Sopranos.” She’s not the only thespian in their household though, as Shooter has done some acting himself; portraying his father in the Oscar-nominated Johnny Cash biopic “Walk the Line” and playing himself in an episode of CSI.

Other artists slated to take the stage over the weekend include Texas-country artists Micky & the Motorcars, Detroit honkey tonkers Whitey Morgan and the 78s and Columbus, Ohio crooner Lydia Loveless. Fifth on the Floor, Chad Sullins and the Last Call Coalition, Caitlin Cannon & the Artillery and Pagosa’s-own Brooks-I are also on the roster.

Tickets for the two-day festival are $75 and can be purchased online at outlawsnowdown.com/tickets. Single-day wristbands will be available at the door, space permitting, and will run walk-up patrons $50. Outlaw Snowdown is an 18-over event.
