If You Missed Lydia Loveless at Outlaw Snowdown Last Year, Don't Do It Again!
Melissa Buckley | 1/31/13

Lydia Loveless was a highlight for those who caught her set at the inaugural Outlaw Snowdown in 2012. The 22-year-old vocal powerhouse will grace the OSD stage again on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The only returning act from last year, Loveless will go on prior to Saturday night’s headliners, Micky & the Motorcars this year. Having played early in 2012, many missed the Loretta Lynn-esque artist, only to hear how great she was from those who didn’t. Word-to-the-wise, don’t miss this year’s openers either!

Loveless’ 2012 album, “Indestructible Machine,” garnered critical acclaim worldwide. Edgy-lyrics, and blast-it-to-the back-of-the-room vocals, not to mention the occasional pop cover, make her show a can’t-miss occasion. Throw in husband Ben Lamb’s spirited stand-up bass playing and her father, Parker Chandler’s, energetic drumming and you’ve got first-rate entertainment on your hands.

Loveless is currently writing her third album and will tour Europe after her Outlaw Snowdown appearance.

The other female-fronted band in the 2013 lineup is Durango-based Caitlin Cannon + the Artillery. Playing what they call, Dream-Pop Americana, the girls tour the region (and beyond) regularly and recently opened for The Reverend Horton Heat.

This Friday, Feb. 1, Outlaw Snowdown artist Brooks-i will play at Kip’s Grill and Cantina. Folks who haven’t bought their tickets yet can purchase them sans service fees if they bring cash to Kip’s Friday night.  Tickets for the two-day festival are $75 for both days or $50 for one and can also be purchased online at outlawsnowdown.com/tickets or by phone at (949) 690-3457.

Kip’s will also have live apres-ski entertainment throughout the WinterFest/Outlaw Snowdown weekend and will host the event wrap-up party on Sunday, Feb. 10. Pagosa-raised and nationally known artist, Robin Davis, will provide the closing-party entertainment on Sunday at 5 p.m.

The official kick-off party featuring Rag Water (Chris Haas and Chris Rapp) will be held at The Backroom Wine Bar on Thursday Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. and is free to the public.

The Springs Resort will host the Outlaw Snowdown After Party at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. The poolside affair will boast music from Austin, Texas’ Sam Sliva and the Good. Adult beverages will be available. Bathhouse admission and an Outlaw Snowdown wristband will get you in to the pool party.
