Local Pagosa Springs photographer Art Franz, owner of Photographic Art by Art Franz located at 2035 Eagle Drive, recently won a First Place and two Honorable Mentions in the 2007 Hot Tots Cool Kids National Portrait Contest.
The portraits of Payton and Kayson Shahan both won Honorable Mentions in their respective age categories, and Lucas Wade’s portrait won First Place in the Bloopers category.
The contest was open to all professional photographers in the United States and was sponsored by America Color Imaging.
This was the tenth year that Art Franz has entered and won one of the top four places in at least one category each year. Last year, he won 2 Honorable Mentions out of over 1500 entries. This year, there were 2280 portraits entered in the contest.
Payton and Kayson each won a $20 gift certificate from Toys R Us with their portraits and Lucas’ portrait earned him a $100 Toys R Us certificate.
