As Mud Season arrives and our backwoods roads become temporarily impassable, the Forest Service will keep residents updated on road closures.

West Fork Road (#648) is now closed at Highway 160. To access the National Forest, one can park at the highway and walk, snowshoe or ski the plowed road to the Forest boundary. Snowmobiles are not allowed on plowed roads.

Devil Mountain (#626) and Devil Creek Roads (#627) are also closed.

Effective last week, Williams Creek Road (National Forest System Road #640) is closed to motorized, wheeled vehicles due to spring conditions.

Roads are seasonally closed to motorized, wheeled vehicles (including ATVs) to protect road surfaces and for public safety. They are open to non-motorized uses, including bicycling, hiking, and horseback riding.  As with all areas on the Forest, damage to roads is not allowed. Do not leave road surfaces where the ground is wet.

For more information, go to the Forest Service website,  or contact Pagosa Ranger District at 970 264-2268.
