Are you the family for us? PLEASE say that you are! We are Max and Duke, two mixed-breed brothers who need a home together. We lost our first human family because our young owner lost his job and he had to move in with his mother. She wasn’t too keen on two big dogs like us. I don’t know why. Aren’t we CUTE? Aren’t we WELL-BEHAVED? House-trained? Good on a lead? Healthy? Loving? We are all of those things and more!

Geesh! We’ve got it all! Some people are never satisfied!! Anyway, we were driven to the Shelter on Cloman Boulevard and dropped off. Another dear, dear dog family member came with us too. There were three of us a few months ago. Recently a nice family came along to the Shelter, and adopted our cousin, who was a small Whippet. Which leaves us here by ourselves. I guess we were too big for that nice family.
The story of our lives. Well, we ARE big, about 70 lbs. each, but our temperaments are like calm, loving Labs. I guess our German Shepherd genes came out in our looks more than our natures. Is there someone out there who can look after us? Up until this point we have always had a loving, nurturing home and it is hard to be here in the Shelter. Not that they don’t treat us well here, the staff are GREAT! I think that we’ve become one of their favorites. They know how difficult it will be for us to find a home together, to be adopted together. But let’s just lay this out on the line, we DON’T want to be separated and my brother and I think that if we are, we’ll die of broken hearts.
We are GOOD with small children, gentle and kind. Who wouldn’t be with those cute little tykes. We are great with adults and seniors too, pretty much great with any type of family. Not that we are bragging or anything. But let’s get one thing clear, we are not into being outside dogs or being staked out somewhere. You may as well forget about being our parents if that is what you want to do. We want to be a real part of a real family! Is that too much to ask??
Will you be our Always Family? Please visit the Humane Society and take us home. Give them a call, 970-731-4771. Or drive by and visit us at 465 Cloman Blvd., off of Piedra Road. It may be a bit muddy out there, so bring your Wellies! See you soon we hope. |
