I thought you might appreciate this article from the Pagosa Springs Daily Post: 'Heart and Soil' Screening May 19 at Liberty Theatre http://www.pagosadailypost.com/news/8294/\'Heart_and_Soil\'_Screening_May_19_at_Liberty_Theatre/
“Heart and Soil” is a family documentary that clips along with the pace of barefoot children and frolicking livestock, taking us on a journey into the rich landscape and lives of farmers in the southwest and into the bustling energy of the farmer’s markets and farm to school programs. This uplifting movie will inspire you to dig in and grow your own — or support those who do — for our personal and planetary health.
The film will be shown at the Liberty Theatre in downtown Pagosa Springs on May 19 at 6:30 p.m. The Southwest Organization for Sustainability (SOS) is bringing this film to town for this one time showing.
Audiences seem to love the film because Mara LeGrand, the filmmaker, has captured the farmers as authentic characters, engaged passionately in their work. These good stewards of our planet offer a significant contribution to our individual health. Legrand says; “Each of us is a microcosm of the whole, so if the planet is unbalanced, our personal health is also in jeopardy. If our health is unbalanced how will we have the time, energy and mindfulness to attend to the needs of our planet?”
LeGrand shot “Heart and Soil” in Northern New Mexico and Southwest Colorado, all within 200 miles of her home in Durango.
SOS is suggesting donations to further efforts toward a sustainable community and world. Monthly programs are bringing films and speakers to Pagosa. Memberships in SOS will also be available.
