Volunteer crews are out cleaning up the roadsides, the Chamber’s Hanging Basket Program is underway, early spring flowers are poking their heads out of the ground, and now the town has announced their annual Clean-Up Week.  For over twenty years, the Town of Pagosa Springs has provided residents the opportunity to clean up their neighborhoods by offering dumpsters and free trash pick-up.

Here are the major pickup stations and removal schedules.  Dumpsters for trash will be located at the end of S. 5th St. within the Sanitation District fence.  The site will be open for dumping between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm, May 12 – May 18.  There is a schedule of curbside pickup that can be obtained by calling the town, the chamber, or checking information in the various news sources.

Removal of junk vehicles can be coordinated by calling Rita Prokop at Town Hall.  Proof of ownership of the vehicle is required and there may be circumstances that prohibit the removal of vehicles.  Please check with the Town.

Cemetery clean-up will also occur the week of May 19 - 25.  While there will be no dumpster at the cemetery, all items can be placed along the roadside for pickup.  Remember that the town will not remove household trash, hazardous materials, engines and appliances with Freon.

We are hoping that with the discussion of the nuisance ordinance that the County is working on, that we will see clean-up efforts outside of the town jurisdiction as well.  Remember, you cannot just dump electronic equipment, this must be specifically recycled and we hope that the county will again this year provide an E-Cycle Day.  We urge you to participate in the County’s open forums regarding the nuisance ordinance.  Be a part of the solution and share your voice and opinions.  We will further inform the public when county clean-up decisions have been reached.

Get ready to do some spring cleaning inside and outside your house and participate in this annual Town Clean-Up project coming up this month.
