Kids and Family Programs are being offered during the Ute Mountain Mesa Verde Birding Festival Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10. All are welcome!
How many hamburgers would you need to eat to gain 5% of your body weight a day, as migrating birds do? How many times can you flap your ‘wings’ in a minute, and what kind of bird does that make you? A crow or a hummingbird? Come experience the Bird Olympics and Great Migration Challenge and learn more about yourself, and about our fine feathered friends! The program is FREE and takes place Friday, May 9 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the Cortez Cultural Center!
To find out the 6 main characteristics of birds, as well as how to look for and identify some common birds in the area, join us in a children's program Saturday, May 10 from 8:30am to 10:30am. Kids ages 5-13 are welcome. We will meet at the Cortez Cultural Center and carpool to Denny Lake. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. The program is $5 per child.
Please bring your own binoculars if available, as well as excitement, and your very own birdbrains! Contact the Cortez Cultural Center to sign up at 970-565-1151. |
