The public is invited to attend the Weminuche Chapter of the National Audubon Society for their Thursday, May 15 meeting, to be held at 7:00pm at the Pagosa Springs Community Center.

The meeting will begin with a brief update on Chapter business and activities calendar by Becky Gillette, the Southwest Colorado Regional Director of the Jake and Terry Hershey Outreach Program. The evening’s program on the “Cranes of Colorado” will be presented by Susan Halabrin. Susan will present an overview of the biology, habitat, ecology, and ranges of sandhill and whooping cranes. Her talk will include the history of whooping crane recovery efforts in the United States and how the majestic birds became associated with San Luis Valley in Colorado.
