Lionel Bart's popular musical "Oliver" is Pagosa Springs Music Booster's summer production for 2008, will open tonight, Thursday, June 3 at the high school auditorium — with additional shows on July 5, 6 & 10, 11 12, eves at 7:00pm, with a special matinee only show on Sunday July 5 at 2:00pm.
Rehearsals for the show are well under way, under the direction of Dale Morris, Lisa Hartley, Sue Anderson and Kathy Isberg. Scott Farnham as set designer has begun construction on stage, while Lisa Hartley, Linda Bennett and Judy Nicholson have been busy with the daunting task of costuming the more than 30 performers, bringing London 1850 to life.

The production staff was especially happy to see a large number of our younger students stepping out for the first time to audition for “Oliver.”
Brayden Mitchell has been cast as “Oliver”; the “Artful Dodger” is Eliott Harwood, Charles Bates is "Colin", supported by Fagin’s Boys: Johannah Laverty, Hannah Hemenger, Thomas Levonius, Kohbe Lucero, Trenton Cordova, Zoe, Fulco, Leslie Baughman, Zoe Geraghty and Cierra Caler.
Among our adult actors, cast in the primary lead role as "Fagin" is Jon Bernard. Becca Stephens, a regular in all of our performances, will portray the female lead "Nancy", playing to the evil "Bill Sykes" — Dave Armbrecht. Zach Nelson is "Mr. Bumble," playing opposite Linda Bennett’s "Widow Corney."
Jarret Heber, recently seen on stage as the "Scarecrow" in the high school's performance of "The Wiz" portrays "Mr. Sowerberry" to Sheri Bahn's "Mrs. Sowerberry", while Crissy Ferguson, (wicked "Evillene" from "The Wiz") is Charlotte. Ashlyn Burch is "Bet", Marissa Baranick plays Mrs. Bedwin, Hannah Clarke is "Old Sally", our own Scott Farnham returns to the stage as "Mr. Brownlow", and Dr. Grimwig is Darran Garcia, a PSHS graduate, veteran stage performer and Music Boosters scholarship recipient.
