On Sunday, June 22, the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will have a special service dedicated to exploring African American spirituals and gospel music, led by John Graves. Wildly enthusiastic participation by the congregation will be required on this morning. The "Professor" will share some brief erudition on the history and characteristics of these genres, with performance examples by several UU artists (and perhaps a guest performer or two). Be prepared to sing and swing. In addition to a brief participation in the gospel service, the children's program will consider two very important words. Freedom means you are able to make a choice, and responsibility means you need to think about how that choice will affect others. The children will build a "palace" together, putting personal freedom and responsibility to the group into action.
The service begins at 10:30am in the Pagosah Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, Unit B-15, Greenbriar Plaza. Turn east on Greenbrier Drive off of North Pagosa by the Fire Station, then left into the back parking lot and look for the big sign. All are welcome. |
