For several years Dick Moseley has volunteered to lead a series of wildflower walks within the San Juan National Forest and he has gained quite a following. Dick and his wife, Ann, are soon moving to Ohio to be nearer to family. His last walk for the season will be tomorrow, Tuesday, July 1, meeting at Teal Boat Ramp and then hiking the Cimarrona Trail.
Moseley worked in natural resources for 32 years, including 21 years as the head of the nature preserve and heritage programs for the state of Ohio. Since his retirement, he has volunteered in many different roles for the San Juan National Forest, San Juan Mountains Association and Chimney Rock Interpretive Association. He will be sorely missed by many in the Forest Service and the community.
This last walk starts at 9:00 a.m. and is 2-3 hours long. Bring water, hat, sunscreen, repellant, a jacket and wear appropriate shoes. Dick will provide a plant list for the area. The program is free and is sponsored by the San Juan Mountains Association and San Juan National Forest.
