The volunteer board of the Upper San Juan Health Service District — whose new Pagosa Mountain Hospital is struggling with financial issues just four months after opening its doors — has held numerous special meetings over the past month, with many more special meetings still ahead.  Board member Bob Scott, referring to the hospital's finances at this five-hour Tuesday night meeting, admitted that the board and hospital administration had "driven into the ditch."  A representative of Mercy Regional Medical Center said Mercy is eager to help the district in any way it can.
