High Rollers at Habitat for Humanity fundraiser

Durango band The High Rollers will provide the live music for Friday's Habitat for Humanity fundraising dinner and dance
The High Rollers include Jeff Johnson on fiddle, banjo, guitar and vocals, Mike Canterbury on drums and vocals, Garrett Valencia on lead guitar and vocals, and Andy Janowsky on bass and vocals.  The band plays a variety of music including Country, Rock, Western, Spanish, Oldies, and more.

The event menu features barbeque beef with slaw and ranch beans, as well as a dessert bar.  A silent auction is also part of the festivities, with items ranging from ski passes and balloon rides to gourmet dinners and contractor services. The cost for the evening will be $50.00 per person or you can sponsor a table for 6 people for $300.00 or a table for 8 people for $400.00.  The proceeds from the evening will help build a home for another Archuleta County family in need of an affordable housing.  The cost of the ticket or table is tax deductible.

Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian non-profit organization created to provide access to decent, affordable housing for working families of modest means. Since its founding in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat for Humanity International has built and rehabilitated more than 200,000 houses. It is the fifth largest builder of houses in the United States.

Habitat for Humanity of Archuleta County was established with the same goals, but focused on building houses in Archuleta County. We build 1-2 houses in Pagosa Springs, Colorado each year, using primarily volunteer labor. The actual cost of these houses is about $65,000, all of which must be repaid by the Partner Family which must also contribute 400-500 hours of sweat equity. Habitat's efforts in Pagosa Springs over the past 15 years have provided quality housing for over 50 children.

Mark your calendar for the Archuleta County chapter of Habitat for Humanity's annual fundraiser this Friday, September 29, at 6:00 pm at the Community Center.  For further information please call, Janis Moomaw, at 264-3010.
